What this app does

CoffeeRx is a Shopify app that adds a product-recommendation widget to your storefront. Shoppers answer a short taste guide about coffee preferences; the app matches their answers to products in your catalog and displays suggestions.

Data we collect from merchants

• OAuth session data — when you install CoffeeRx, Shopify grants us an access token. We store this token (along with your shop domain and basic account details returned by Shopify) to authenticate subsequent API calls. This data is held in our database and deleted when you uninstall the app.

Data we collect from your customers

No personal data. When a shopper completes the taste guide, we store only their anonymous preference selections (such as the flavor, roast strength, and brew style they chose) together with a timestamp and your shop domain. This is used solely to show you, the merchant, which coffee profiles are popular in your store’s admin.

We do not store any information that identifies a shopper: no names, email addresses, IP addresses, cart contents, or order data. We do not set cookies for storefront visitors, and we do not transmit any customer data to third parties.

If you enable the “save profile” option in the theme editor, taste guide selections are additionally saved to the visitor’s own browser (localStorage) on their device only — this is separate from the anonymous insights above.

Product catalog access

To generate recommendations the widget fetches your store’s public product list from https://<your-shop>/products.json — a Shopify endpoint that is already publicly available to anyone on the internet. No private customer or order data is accessed.

Data retention

Merchant session data and the anonymous taste-guide insights are deleted automatically when you uninstall the app. We honour Shopify’s mandatory GDPR webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact) and will delete any associated data within 30 days of a verified request.

Third-party services

The recommendation widget loads Google Fonts (Cormorant Garamond and Jost) from Google’s CDN to render its interface. As part of serving these fonts, Google’s font service may log the requesting IP address. No personal data about your shoppers is sent to Google.
